Beam Reach & Beyond is the destination for the sailor who is serious about learning to handle large sailboats. The courses are designed to take the small boat sailor to the next level of their sailing experience. 

Beam Reach & Beyond prides itself on  highly personalized sailing instruction through small classes and exclusively on-the-water training.  The boat is the classroom and the instruction is hands-on.  

SAIL TRAINING:

We offer three levels of training. Basic Cruising (level 1 course)  introduces you to the operation and sailing of a large boat, to include all its systems, piloting, and sail handling.  After completing this course you will be prepared to take a keelboat from the dock under power, read a nautical chart and plot your course, sail to your destination, anchor, handle all docking lines,  and operate the many systems of a large boat.  Advanced Cruising (level 2 course)  builds on this training to bring you to a level of proficiency that will enable you to sail anywhere and to charter successfully in distant waters.  The focus of this course is increased training in piloting, sail handling, maneuvering under power and sail, night navigation, overnight anchoring, meal preparation, and docking.  Level III course is in fact a cruise.  You plan an itinerary, understand the provisioning of the boat, and set off on a wonderful four-day,three-night cruise of the Chesapeake Bay, under the supervision of a USCG licensed Captain.

CHARTERS:

In addition, to sail training, Beam Reach & Beyond offers charters on the Chesapeake Bay with a Coast Guard licensed Captain at the helm.  Tell us where you want to go or leave the itinerary to us.
